A big problem with pets is the cost of bringing them along. It was far too high requireing two skills, now its just a bit too high bringing one. THe largest cost is the attribute spread. A warrior doesn't need a skills slot for sword, he gets it for free, but its not much use to him without skills and attributes in swordsmanship. The same should be true of a pet. Bring the pet for free, the cost is in the spec.
Swords also don't shut the warrior down when they die, come to that, swords don't die. Pets still cost too much to bring compared to other prefession lines.

^ Not to mention a warrior's sword always attacks the target that the warrior wants it too. And, a sword doesn't sit and stare at its target before attacking.

The short pause before my pet attacks a target that I lock them on isn't really a concern to me. I micro my pet's target on the pet HUD, which it seems like a lot of people don't do... I've never had my pet sit for 2-3 seconds once I lock its target - it goes after its mark pretty quickly. If you're just calling a target, or waiting for your pet to attack what you are attacking, then the pet AI can be a bit slow.

And that is a problem with the BM line. They are not integrated well with marksmanship or your other allies.
Pets are subpar melee attackers with "selfish" skills. At least warriors have defensive shouts that can benefit their party and as a weapon, they are harder to control than an axe or a sword. Weapons also dont disable your skills when they die, actually they never die but you do.
You know what kind of Pet buffing skills I like? They are called barbs and mark of Pain from the necro curse line or the paragon shouts. Not only do these skills buff my pet, they also serve to buff my team, leading to team synergy.

1- No
2- No
3- Ofc , they wont work .
4- Yes it is
5- No , wont break anything in PvE
No one said they have to have 8 skills , not even 4. Your answer is a random negative answer that can be given anytime you dont agree with something , has nothing to do with the hypothetical case of pets having lets say .... 2 skills.
The fact is that all rangers are not the same but their pets are , all pets are the same except for dealing sla/blu/pier damage ..... that sux and it did sux since the beggining. I really thing that in GW they will do something about it because its pretty obvious that one pets needs to differ from another and if you say "pets are like weapons" oh my ..... they are not , but even BOWS have diff types .
